Many of us have a favorite nursery rhyme. Why not create a baby shower theme using nursery rhymes?
Invitations
Create your own invitations with some card stock, clip art images and of course some nursery rhymes! Embellish the invitations with some vellum paper and ribbon and you have a unique nursery rhyme invitation.
Decorations Place a Nursery Rhyme Diaper Cake as a centerpiece on the gift table. This doubles as a practical gift for mom. Draw and hang cardboard cutouts of a Dish and a Spoon (The "dish ran away with the spoon.") and a Cow jumping over a moon. Don't forget Hush-A-Bye Baby - make sure you have a cradle in a tree branch.
Food
Get a baby bath and fill it with punch. You can cut a plastic drinking cup down to size and place three figures in it for "Three men in a tub" (Rub-A-Dub-Dub). Serve little cakes or one large cake marked with a B (Pat-A-Cake) or hot cross buns. Have a tray of deviled eggs for an appetizer (Humpty Dumpty). You get the idea here.
Games How about a Nursery Rhyme Quiz? Do you remember what happened to Jack Sprat? What about Humpty Dumpty? Another fun game is Name that Nursery Rhyme. If you were given the plot of the Nursery Rhyme would you be able to name it? Have baby shower guests pair up into teams to Name that Nursery Rhyme. There will surely be some funny answers. A third game is Nursery Rhyme Word Scramble. Your baby shower Guests will race to unscramble names of different Nursery Rhymes.
When it comes to creating a nursery rhyme baby shower theme don't try to stick to one or two rhymes. Be creative and use characters from as many rhymes as you can. Everyone will have a great time remembering the nursery rhymes from childhood.
